Many of us are in the blogging game just for the fun of it. It offers an outlet for ideas, opinions and just everything else you want to share, and keeps your brain engaged while researching and writing. But some find, by choice or coincidence, that they can make money blogging!
Those who found out by chance have often turned towards explaining their strategies and selling their expertise to others, who aspire to earn money with their blogs as well. But there is a lot of information out there that is available for free and can bring you ahead with big steps, without the need to actually invest anything else besides times and energy.
Search Engine Ranking
The first is achieving a ranking in search engines that propels your site to the very top of the list, or at least as close to the top as you can get in your particular niche. There are several tricks to optimize your blog for search engines, many of which are freely available online. However, do check and double-check because many of the free SEO tricks aren’t regularly updated to reflect changes in the policies at the search engines.
Building Authority
Before people pay you for information, they have to be convinced that the information you offer is actually valuable. To convince them of that very fact, you need to build authority. And you can only achieve authority by offering consistent quality over time. Whether you write, draw, make video’s or dance with a hula-hoop, unless you deliver quality, you can never go from dreaming about authority and riches to actually achieving them.
Build a list
Many bloggers rely heavily on their mailing list for exposure. And rightly so. It is very important to build a list. Do not simply aim for quantity here, quality is key. Only quality prospects on your list, being people who are genuinely interested in what you have got to offer and open for offers (not too many!).
A good way to build a list is giving something away for free, like a small ebook or a checklist, so that users feel they get immediate value in exchange for their information. This helps a lot in the decision to subscribe.
As you can see, there are many ways to bring your blog to a point where it makes money, but to do so, you have to put in some effort.
